A brief summary of Prague Zoo’s help for Ukraine
16. 03. 2022
Since 28 February we have been running a collection to help Ukrainian zoos. It has also received support from other UCSZOO (Union of the Czech and Slovak Zoological Gardens) members and foreign organizations.

So far, we have spent or transferred a total of CZK 880,000 (€ 35,391) from the collection to help Ukrainian zoos. Photo: Miroslav Bobek, Prague Zoo
Apart from financial contributions, it also receives the proceeds from special tours for the public organized by our keepers and the “virtual tickets to Ukrainian zoos”. To date, we have raised a total of CZK 3,021,000 (€ 121,496).
So far, we have spent or transferred a total of CZK 880,000 (€ 35,391) from the collection. We have sent € 10,000 each to Nikolaev Zoo and Kharkiv Zoo. The rest was used to buy animal food and various equipment, which we took to Warsaw Zoo, and which then went or will go to Ukrainian zoos. It was even possible to deliver a shipment to the aforementioned Kharkov Zoo.
Likewise, as of 28 February, we have been letting Ukrainian children and women into Prague Zoo for one Czech crown. Up to now, over ten thousand have come. We are also preparing special free programmes for Ukrainian children, which are interpreted into Ukrainian. People can buy gifts for these Ukrainian children through our e-shop. Both our zoo and its staff are also involved in helping refugees.
If anyone is interested in further details, I would be happy to email them.
