First Zoo of Light in the Czech Republic
More and more animals and plants are gradually being added to Prague Zoo’s lower grounds. This is the Zoo of Light project, which is being readied by a company called Garden of Lights. The Zoo of Light will include lanterns of 33 species of animals totalling 110 specimens, as well as plants, projections on the ground or ‘photopoints’. It is scheduled to open on Friday, October 25th, but tickets are already on sale.
This is the first time a Czech zoo will have such a light installation; however, similar projects are common in other parts of the world. Apart from enlivening the grounds outside the main visitor season, they also help promote “flagship species”, such as gorillas or pangolins, in the case of Prague Zoo. The lanterns depicting them were made especially for Prague.
There will be a separate entrance fee for the Zoo of Light. It will be open from 18.00 to 21.00 from October 25th to 31st and then from 17.00 to 21.00 from November 1st to February 16th on Fridays, Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays and from 17.00 to 20.00 on other weekdays. It will be closed on Christmas Eve and New Year's Eve.
We wholeheartedly believe that the Zoo of Light will be a hit with kids and grownups alike!
