Mr Rana, the director, set behind the wheel of his Jeep and we drove to the other end of his zoo. And there they were, all three of them in one enclosure – Jamvan, Jennifer and Gini, three young Indian Lions, who are scheduled to move from Gujarat to Prague this summer.

Today at the seat of Czech Embassy in Delhi we signed a Memorandum of Cooperation between Indian Central Zoo Authority (CZA) and Prague Zoo. It creates a basis for the cooperation between our Zoo and Indian zoos.

So the word is out. I have got a phone call from Czech News Agency, that The Times of India published information about India donating three lions to an unnamed Czech zoo. Yes, they are coming to our zoo. Two females and one male should arrive from the Sakkarbaug Zoo in Gujarat.

Some time ago I was asked to relay the answers to the inquiry "How will you spend Christmas this year?", where the respondents to this question should be our animals. Fine, let´s proceed. We have prepared a wider survey, for which the curators of Prague Zoo have served as our qualified researchers.

Because of unprofessional behaviour of representatives of Johannesburg Zoo, eight antelopes sitatunga were euthanasied in South African Republic. The director of Prague Zoo Miroslav Bobek informed about the unethical manners in open letter and explained all the consequences.

The high-water that hit Prague Zoo in the first June days flooded the lower part of its area , but fortunately  it hadn’t reach the level of 2002 floods,  therefore the damage was not so big.
