Up on this plateau, which was formed by sediments deposited by the Vltava River, you will find extensive enclosures, ideal for herds of large herbivores. Of the species that live on this plateau, several have, in the past, come close to the brink of extinction – and their survival to the present day has been due to their rigorous protection in the wild and to captive breeding.
