Dr. Jane Goodall in Prague Zoo

Prague Zoo, in cooperation with the Science Faculty of Charles University, invited to Prague the legendary primatologist and wildlife protector, Dr. Jane Goodall. Dr. Goodall is currently dedicating most of her time to nature preservation and raising awareness through an international foundation Roots and Shoots. On December 11th, Dr. Jane Goodall took a walk around Prague Zoo in the company of the director Miroslav Bobek, assistant director Jaroslav Šimek and the curators. She especially enjoyed the Gorilla Pavilion. She also got to know the Wandering Bus project and related activities of the zoo focused on nature preservation in Central Africa. She also highly appreciated various exhibits such as the Giant Salamander House.

On Monday December 12th Prague Zoo invited Dr. Goodall to give a presentation in Božík’s auditorium in the Old Town Hall. The audience welcomed such an honorable guest with loud standing ovations. Everybody listened carefully and attentively to every word of this noble lady. After her presentation, she opened a discussion and kindly responded to all asked questions. Everybody was impatient for the autograph session which took place afterwards.

On December 13th, Dr. Goodall came back to the Gorilla Pavilion where the Czech Television (CT) film crew awaited her, along with famous Czech moderator and actor Marek Eben. While the gorilla family was busy with feeding and enrichment activities in the background, Dr. Goodall shot an interview for the "Na Plovárně" series, one of the most popular TV shows on Czech TV. We will alert you the broadcast time in advance. We highly appreciate all the time that Dr. Goodall dedicated to us and we are very pleased that she enjoyed Prague Zoo and appreciated our activities for the protection of nature and wildlife.
