Birthday on Sunday
Besides many gifts, the precious babies also received congratulation from the well-known mime artist Boris Hybner. Sita and Diri are both very significant additions to the Zoo. First time in the history of the Zoo an elephant was bred,  and the baby orangutan was the first young  born after the long forty-two years.

Boy or girl?
Boris Hybner and a Prague Vice Mayor Mr Jiří Nouza were among those coming to congratulate. A young pantomime group called Mime Prague  performed a unique show about animals from the Prague Zoo. “And we also announced that the  orangutan baby Diri is a  female ,” said  Michal Šťastný, the Zoo´s press officer.

Masks are symbolic
Celebrations were held in a playful spirit of a carnieval. Children under 15 years, who wore  a mask of orangutan or elephant,  paid just one crown entrance fee. And other visitors could make their own masks in a special workshop at the Educational Centre . At noon the Carnival parade with a spectacular mask display set out from the main entrance and continued to  the Elephant Valley.
