Asian elephants
Elephants are exceptionally interesting animals, and not just because of their size. Perhaps the most striking thing about them is their trunk, which resulted from the upper lip and nostrils fusing and elongating. It is an incredibly useful organ, with over 60,000 muscles and thin, sensitive skin.

Elephants are social animals. The basic structure of their family life is matriarchy. Herds of females with young are led by older elephants who pass on their experience to younger generations. Adult males are usually solitary.
